The Coconut House

A little renovation. A whole lot of tropical charm.

The story

Sometimes, a little house just needs a fresh perspective.

Tucked away among coconut trees in Bagac, Bataan, The Coconut House is an existing countryside retreat owned by a German homeowner who has made the Philippines his home.

The idea? Give the property a fresh new look and make it more inviting for future rental guests.

But renovating an existing house on sloping terrain comes with its own little adventures.

Rather than completely reinventing the structure, we took a more thoughtful approach, building on what was already there while introducing a relaxed, Modern Filipino character.

An elevated front porch creates a welcoming outdoor space, while roof improvements help bring the old and new elements together. Inside, an extended bedroom, enclosed bathroom, improved kitchen, and dedicated laundry area make everyday living more comfortable and convenient.

All while keeping the property's tropical surroundings part of its charm.

Through careful renovation planning and architectural visualization, Crisostomo Architects reimagined this modest 67.75-square-meter retreat into a more functional and inviting getaway.

Because sometimes, you don't need a completely new house to create something special.

Just a little creativity, a few thoughtful changes, and perhaps a coconut tree or two.
